AUSTIN — State Sen. Wendy Davis' filibuster of an omnibus abortion bill began at 11:18 a.m. Tuesday. She said she intends to continue until midnight, when the 30-day special session of the Legislature ends, effectively killing the proposed restrictions on the procedure in Texas. Gov. Rick Perry, who called the special session and put abortion on the agenda, could summon lawmakers back again if that happens, but he hasn't said if he will. “Any speculation on another special session is still premature,” said Perry spokesman Josh Havens.
